Stone BBQ Island: Scottsdale
Have a small backyard? You might want to consider an L-shaped BBQ island, Scottsdale. It gives you more cooking space on a compact footprint, making it very popular with those who own newer homes. Additionally, moving from grill to tend things on the cook-top is a pivot away – not steps. A layout that makes multi-tasking much easier. Work flow is as important outdoors as it is indoors.
This natural stone design blends the relaxed polish of travertine counter and coping with the rough beauty of split face stone on the cabinet under the wrap around bar. The textural differences compliment each other so well, creating a relaxed, modern feel that flows with the open desert behind it.
There’s more to the story here than the bar on this BBQ island. Scottsdale clients have some great features for grilling outdoors. The stainless steel Turbo grill and cook-top placed with just enough work space between them and a light for the grill. On the short side of the L they’ve chosen a slide-in ice chest for keeping beverages chilled. The working side of the island is finished in stucco painted to match the house. While it could have had stone facing on all sides, the stucco makes for easier cleaning. The bar can comfortably seat 6, and double as serving space for larger gatherings.
The patio/pool deck in this recently completed outdoor living space is travertine pavers laid in the Versailles pattern.
